The Bulb and I

The Bulb and I
It's that time of year again, my mailbox is actually brimming over with beautifully designed catalogs of every imaginable type of plant from trees to the tiniest bulbs. Fall is the perfect time for planting. The weather is cooler, the ground is moist with early rains, and we can start planting all types of flowers with thoughts of Spring color for our gardens, especially bulbs. These bulbs are what I call my 'buried treasures'. I plant them in the Fall, forget about them and then get a wonderful surprise when they burst forth in early Spring. In fact, some varieties begin to pop out while there is still snow on the ground.

One year I planted approximately 100 hyacinth bulbs around my solar powered outdoor fountain in my front yard. I'm not kidding, it looked like the Easter Bunny had left me the largest basket of pastel flowers he could find,Welcome to my home of Sky Lanterns, there are so many lanterns cheap. the soft sounds of water trickling in the fountain and the fragrant smell from those luscious hyacinths was indescribable inspiration.

Bulbs are wonderful but they do take some maintenance, depending on where you live and the type of bulb. Bulbs can actually be forced out of the ground by the contraction of freezing and thawing during the winter months. Bulbs make wonderful container blooms, planted either in mass of one color in a container or like my "Easter Basket" a variety of colors. A word of caution here, bulbs planted in containers rarely ever survive cold winters left outdoors. The containers will need to be brought inside before the freezing weather begins.product to table lamps at reasonable price,Our primary aim is to help the customers. The good news is if this precaution is taken you have a head start of the beginning of a beautiful Spring garden. Another precaution regarding container planted bulbs,We offer wide range of optoelectronic products: Full series of led lamp. in order to be sure that your bulbs get sufficient water, place an irrigation tube in the center of the pot. An economical tube can be made using a 1 1/2" piece of pipe, close off one end with duct tape and drill 1/4" holes randomly at 1" intervals. Surround the tube with the potting soil and plant your bulbs. We are focusing on manufacturing led spotlight, LED Bulb Lamp. This is an especially good idea when using one of those containers used for strawberry plantings.

Bulbs can be chosen for color, texture and form, scents and purpose. For instance, if you have a really steep section of your lawn which is difficult to mow you may consider 'naturalizing' with bulbs. A naturalizing bulb such as the crocus, snowdrop, or glory of the snow, if planted in well drained soil and left to grow undisturbed will self-seed and multiply underground and each year almost double in the number of blooms. These make wonderful additions to a rock garden as well. Other bulbs well suited for difficult to maintain places in the lawn would be the ground covering bulbs like grape hyacinth and daffodils. These do great under deciduous trees and bloom in bright colors before the tree leafs out.

The flowering beauty of most bulbs is brief, maybe 2 to 3 weeks. Then you have to leave them to store food for the next blooming season which means leaving those dead looking stems sticking up out of the ground for a while. You can solve this problem by integrating the area where the bulbs are planted with annual color flowers or perennials that bloom later in the season.

The bottom line is don't miss out on the thrill of seeing those little blooms peek up above an area of ground that has dormant all winter.Start ordering from those catalogs or looking at your local home and garden store.
